Hi, I’m Josh.
I’m an Actor, Composer, Multi-Instrumentalist, and all the weird and wonderful things in-between.
You’ve come to the right place for…
Everything Music.
Everything Acting.
Everything Else.
“Grant Olding’s politically scathing protest songs… are led by The Ranter, the superb, charismatic and vocally brilliant Josh Sneesby”
— The Stage (The Hypocrite, RSC)
Epic Art Pop?
I’m composing all sorts of music for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes its with brilliant teams and companies like these, and sometimes I’m lucky enough to win awards, placements, and residencies for it.
But for now, why not just pick a nice accompanying piece and keep scrolling?
When I’m not making music…
Is This Thing On?!
And other times I’m recording voice overs from my studio.
Projects, News and Ideas
Heres the good stuff. An assortment of all my work in all its guises. Some of it is polished, some is rough, some finished, some barely begun. But its all full of flavour.
Tartuffe…
My fourth show with The Burgtheater is this beautiful, dark, film-noire interpretation of Tartuffe. And now I’ve got my own page on their website, it feels like I’m really part of the gang. I loved composing and performing this show - theres loads of beautiful sounds - singing, music boxes, and even a few minutes of solo jazz melodia drenched in reverb… what else do you need to know? The glowing reviews? Ok fine.
A BBC Award 📻
We’re shortlisted for Best Sound and Best Adaptation by the BBC Radio Drama Awards! There’s no music category, just sound, so I’m saying I’ve been nominated till anyone asks for details. The whole team worked with such focus and skill - it was great to be a part of this.

When Your Dance Show…
… Is The Guardian’s most anticipated show for 2025, you know you’re in for a good time! Complicite, Nederlands Dans Theater, and I have created a trilogy of shows, which will be in the UK for the first time this year! Full disclosure - Ben Grant did most of the sound work - I mostly tagged along for the ride.
“The music is perfectly composed, everything is just right in terms of craftsmanship.”
- Theaterkritik (Das Weite Land, Burgtheater)
Grammy Nomination!
I’ve actually made it! Or rather Amelie The Musical has. A Grammy Nomination for Best Musical Theatre Album - the music of which I co-arranged and performed. Winning this would mean I can finally swan around London in aviators and a silk Kimono.
The Dream 🚘
Its my third time composing, musical directing, and performing at The Burgtheater and The Rhutriennale Festival. Come for the beautiful pictures and performances, stay for the jazz musak, tounge drum solos, and THE most horrifying Simon And Garfunkel cover you’ll ever hear.
When marimba rhythms start to play…
Its my third project with the Complicité gang - looks like I’m (hopefully) becoming a regular! I co-composed the music for Simon McBurney and Crystal Pite’s amazing choreo. I remeber seeing a note for an auditon I did… “Josh looks like he can dance, but he can’t”. After watching NDT, I can confirm that this is, infact, true.
A Christmas #1!
I’m the top of the charts in U.K and USA! Well.. The huge team I was a part of are top of the Podcast Fiction Charts. You don’t need my autograph quite yet. Here’s all the episodes of our Christmas Series… or have a listen to episode 5 from about 12 minutes with headphones, if you’re after music and binaural sounds over story.
Thank you Arts Council!
I’ve been awarded a DYCP fund! It’s a chunk of change to create, build, develop, and explore… whatever I want! Isn’t that great? I’ve got lots of headphone-theatre ideas to try, which I’ll bang on about till you ask me to stop.
My Second BBC Radio Gig! 📻
Lots of ukulele, Noh Theatre sounds, and dodgy German voice acting (mine) have gone into this six-part audio series - Purple Heart Warriors. Really proud to be back with the Beeb on this project - it was a lot of fun.
Das Weite Land…
I’m back at The Burgtheater with Schnitzler’s razor sharp show… and its got rave reviews (according to Google Translate)! Its the first time I’ve only composed on a project, and its been thrilling.
BBC, Complicité and me!
Not quite sure how I landed this one. But I did, so we’re off!
Our serialisation of The Dark Is Rising will be played over the 12 days of Christmas. So when festivities get a bit too much, go to your bedroom and listen to this beautfiul binaural beast. Its a crazy team - basically everyone from The Encounter (one of my fav shows of all time) plus The Beeb, plus me. Mad.
3 Olivier Award Nominations
Oh Amelie The Musical. We spent a year together, seeing the sights of Audrey Brisson, the sounds of the accordion, and the smells of The West End. Kiss me.

“The pouring rain is felt in every lonley note Sneesby plays… It entraces us.”
— Der Standard (Tartuffe, The Burgtheater)
Peer Gynt - RSC Composer
I’ll be taking on Ibsen in a musical brawl with The RSC and I can’t wait to kick things off. The Acclaimed Swiss director Barbara Frey and sensational Emily Louizou are in my creative corner, so I’m feeling pretty invincible.
A complete dream job. Unreal.
Ibiza House 2024
Suark and I made this BANGER! Check it out on these Spotify playlists: Hot New Dance, Tomorrowland Official, Dance Anthems, and Nicky Romero Favourites.
Lovely Little Amal
This Midsummer, during World Refugee Week, she came, saw, and conquered The RSC! I was supporting her, alongside a little troop, and a lot of ice cream.
The Rhutriennale Festival!
I’ve been very busy in Germany, creating and headlining the incredible Rhutriennale Festival. It was a joyous, wonderful, and beautifully surreal time. And I was staying in the weirdest hotel for the whole month. Reviews range from ”minimalism triumphs… it is true and beautiful” to “stupid staccatto” and I’d defend ‘em both!
My Double Page Spread…
Its not a sex article, but I do have my chest out. I’ve gone all Desert Island Disks with this interview, which is about creating the wild and weird show Der Untergang des Hauses Usher. Read, see & hear all about it! Come see it too, if you fancy.
Complicité Digital Tour…
Complicité’s Can I Live is alive and kicking! If you like afro-beat, spoken word, theatre, and exploding the lines between them… well, this ones for you. Cracking team. Fantastic show. And its pay what you want! Can’t argue with that.
Pooh?!
I talk about how much I love Winnie The Pooh (and philosophy) for an Artsy Austrian Magazine.
What happens on tour…
… stays on tour. Unless heres Covid! Then everyone gets it. So I’m stepping in and performing as Aslan on this wild show as it tours the UK. Hear me roar!
Hallo, Burgtheatre!
I’ll be creating and performing in a show that’ll headline The National Theatre of Austria’s International Festival with the incredible director Barbara Frey and I can’t wait. Boom.
Off West End Award!
Sarah Middleton, Matt Powell and I worked our socks off making our Pilot Episode of Wilf Goes Wild. And its nominated for an Innovative Young Persons Theatre Offie!! This musical cartoon is sheer joy, and a dangerous insight into my imagination.
Award Nomination
Best Original Composition in Music+Sound Awards! There’s 3 hang drums and 40 stacked backing vocals on this thing. Wanna peek? Go on, go on, go on.
Fifth times the charm…
Red Bull and I are doing another season of Fast Life! A couple million youtube views later and I’m somehow still banging on about bikes. Can I take all the credit for the success of this show? No. WIll I? Yes.
“You won’t believe it until you see it, and the same goes for the amazingly talented and admirable Snow Queen - the show’s musical director, who I’m also beginning to think is a reincarnated Freddie Mercury.”
— British Theatre Guide (The Snow Queen, Theatr Clwyd)
Horrifying.
Yes. Truly horrifying. This is a really surreal arrangement of Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You, created for my 2021 production of The Fall Of The House Of Usher - my first time at The Burgtheatre. It was around this point in the show when the protagonist really decends into madness, and what better way to go than with a tinnitus-y synthesizer, horrible accordion, an ape mask, and a evil, demented family with wigs and zimmerframes singing a much-loved ballad!
Finding Your Future
The good people at NSEF and DFN Foundation are all about supporting internships for young people with additional needs. I’m chatting about my pathway, how I’m blagging it, and how you can too.
Fast Life Series 3 AND 4 is out now!
Is it a bird… Is it a plane… its a bike! And I’m narrating another couple series. Series One has over 2 million views on YouTube now, so come join the biker gang.
Compliticé And Me…
This gig was fantastic. Fehiniti Balogun is fire. Can’t wait for this to exist in the real world, how and whenever that may be. Inexplicably, I’m by a camera in this pic. Rest assured it’s not mine and I don’t know how to use it.
“Josh Sneesby hammers dissonant chords into a pianos for 15 minutes”
- Kurier
My First Music
Fancy a bespoke music album for your child? I’ve started a side hustle which is going horribly right! Have a listen and create your personalised songs for under 6’s. Its been really heartwarming, though I have no idea how to run a business. Any tips, just give me a shout!
Feature in The Guardian…
… All about an eerie show I’m making. One quote from the article is “Boom… shiver…Boom… shiver…Boom! Shiver!”. Who could ask for anything more?
Cast Recording is here!
Ok, so this has been out for ages. Fine, you win.
But this was such a formative show so I’m giving it loads of love. I love Darren Clarke’s music. I love the team. I love the story. I’m on a french horn, piano, guitar, and singing hype on this album. It’s mostly in tune.
Prokekt Europa!
I’m feeling very smug to be a part of this fantastic International Theatre Company… Fancy something bold, experimental, form-bending, radical and multi-lingual? Oui. Mich auch.
All Aboard!
Unbelievable job, hilarious moustache. I had a LOT of fun aboard the Orient Express. I also had a lot of fun stealing loads of their complimentary gift bags and sneaking them back through customs.
Listen on Spotify!
She’s released, she’s out, she’s free. This is the result of a single crazy day in the recording studio. A SINGLE DAY. The songs are all beautiful, but my favourite to perform was always Girl With The Glass.
Wilf Goes Wild
This is a wonderful, whimsical song by Sarah Middleton and me. We were asked to create this as part of the On Hope: A Song Cycle project. There’s so much about this song and character I love, so click to find out more, or grab the sheet music and backing track! The Pilot Episode is on its way…
AMP Award…
… Nomination. Just a nomination. Calm down Josh. Anyway, don’t you pride yourself on not buying into this external validation bullshit? You make me sick. You pig.
Narrating Fast Life Season 2
Season 2 is now out, and it’s much much cooler than I could ever be.
Sonnets, in action, with actors
I met a gang of actors by Zoom every week for six months. We threw ourselves in to Shakespeare’s sonnets with Phill Breen. And now, we’re gonna do a charity performance at Norden Farm, December 2020. Grab a ticket!
Buy A Camera Music
Composed this track for Instax whilst on tour! I actually ended up really liking this instrumental, so I’ve turned it into a full song called Higher. I’ll pop it up if I’m allowed to share. This was synced to an advert, somehow, and earnt me a silly amount of money. Seems I can’t replicate the fluke yet.
BEAM Selection
Boom. The Blackfriars Boys is showcasing at this really exciting National event for New British Musicals. Find out more about the bonkers show.

“Josh Sneesby’s musical minimalism triumphs… it is true and beautiful”
— Nacht Kritik (Der Untergang Des Hauses Usher, Rhutriennale Festival)

Keep going for a final treat.
Keep going for a final treat.
So you know I’m a VO artist, actor, producer/composer and multi-instrumentalist…
But did you know I make award winning Post-Emotion Bass Heavy Hyper-Soul music? Nor did I until I read this interview about my collaboration with Shelter Point.
A Lot Of Firsts…
This was from the first time I worked with Sony, and the first time a live quartet played my music… I arranged and produced a lot for Shelter Point’s album (amongst other things, it was released on transparent vinyl, which is pretty damn cool) and they asked me to arrange this live version. The singer has this yearning, haunting falsetto, which I hoped would blend nicely with a string quartet. If you wanna follow along with the score, you can download it here.
